What does PIP replace
What does Personal Independence Payment replace?
Personal Independence Payment replaces Disability Living Allowance for disabled people aged between 16 and 65, even if they currently have an ‘indefinite’ or ‘lifetime’ award of Disability Living Allowance.
Personal Independence Payment does not replace:
- Disability Living Allowance for disabled children under the age of 16
- Disability Living Allowance for older disabled people who were already receiving it and were aged 65 or over on 8 April 2013 – so long as they continue to be entitled to it
- Attendance Allowance for older disabled people with care needs who have already reached the age of 65 before claiming either Personal Independence Payment or Disability Living Allowance.
