Assisted Living (Housing) Committee Member
Voluntary Role - min 1 year committment
Hours: To attend meetings every 6-8 weeks (meeting time: 2hrs,  plus 1 hr. for reading papers).

Centre 404 offers care and support to people with learning disabilities in several supported houses in Islington. Service users’ needs range from mild and moderate to profound and severe.They are looking for someone to join their Assisted Living commitee.

The purpose of the committee is to oversee the work of the housing service from a strategic viewpoint, ensuring that the service provision is meeting high standards efficiently. Members of the committee offer advice and support within their area of expertise, and together, act in an advisory capacity to the Housing Service. 

  • Contribute to the planning and development of the Housing Service through feedback and consultation
  • Contribute to the planning and development of the Housing Service through regular monitoring of progress against the operational objectives for the service
  • Review lessons learned from accidents and incidents, whistleblowing and complaints about the C404 housing service

Professional Experience 


  • Knowledge and experience of the provision of care to people with learning disabilities and/or their families          OR 
  • Experience of tendering for  and/or the commissioning of  health and social care services  from within either the voluntary or public sector


  • Experience of sitting on committees
  • Other professional experience that may give insight into matters arising for the committee

  • Ability to understand and process information
  • Positive and friendly attitude

Expectations of the role:

  • Attend committee meetings up to 6-8 times a year
  • Listen to the issues discussed and differing points of view and provide an unbiased opinion
  • Where appropriate carry out tasks and actions as required by the Chair or Housing Manager
  • Offer impartial advice and feedback using skills and experience gained in a relevant professional environment
  • Work with other committee members to agree on proposals or recommendations to the centre 404 executive Board of Trustees
  • To adhere to Centre 404’s Confidentiality Policy and Procedures and Code of Conduct
