What services do we provide?
Sitra has been providing consultancy services to the housing, care and support sector for more than 20 years. For many organisations, providers, funders and commissioners, Sitra is recognised as the organisation to approach when information, guidance, advice and support are needed.
Our consultancy services will provide a tailored response to your particular circumstance or situation. We will always invest time to ensure we understand your needs and we will work hard to propose a solution that is:
- appropriate
- sustainable and not just a short term remedy
- affordable
- and has considered the impact of the work for customers / service users, staff and other stakeholders.

Bridging the gap between social care, health and housing
A comprehensive support package is now available for members who are seeking additional support in moving closer with the health, and social care world.
Housing plans for vulnerable people
The places where people live are as important as the support they receive.
Sitra is ideally positioned to help local authorities plan for future investment in new and existing supported housing. Our unparalleled expertise in the housing with support and care sector, our accumulated wealth of knowledge and our long-standing national networks all inform our capacity to advise on a realistic way forward for commissioners.
Health and safety for small providers
Management of Health Safety and Welfare at Work Regulations (Regulation 7) requires that all organisations obtain competent Health and Safety advice.
Large and medium organisations normally appoint a health and safety advisor for this purpose; however this may not be practical for small organisations. If you do not employ anyone to provide the competent advice then you will need to obtain the advice from an external source.
Sitra has recognised that this can be a problem for small organisations, and has developed a retained consultancy service in response to this:
- Will provide the services of a health and safety consultant. You will be linked in with one consultant, so will always deal with the same person
- A twice yearly briefing paper on developments in health and safety, changes in the legislation etc
- Advice and discussion via email and an annual inspection (one site)
- You will be able to list the consultant as the person providing competent advice on application forms, and in bids etc. The consultants CV will be available for this purpose on request.
The cost of depends on membership and the size of your organisation.
The offer assume two days of consultancy support over the year. Additional days and site visits of the nominated consult can be purchased if required.

Recently, we have seen an increasing number of enquiries about how we can support organisations to offer more innovative and personalised services to their customers. Our Personalisation brochure tells you more about what we can provide.
Who will provide the consultancy
All the Sitra Policy Officers provide consultancy services in their particular fields. Additionally, we have set up a pool of Associate Consultants, similar to Associate Trainers who support the delivery of our extensive open programme and in house training schedule. These Associate Consultants are independent specialists who bring additional specialisms and capacity to our work.
