The Government White Paper on NHS reform proposes that local authorities will be responsible for setting up Health and Wellbeing Boards and have lead responsibility for promotion of public health. This will include specific duties to tackle health inequalities experienced by marginalised groups, which were highlighted by the Marmot Review.

There will be potential funding opportunities for providers which already work with vulnerable and marginalised groups to develop new services (or expand existing services) with the aim of tackling health inequalities.

This course is aimed at people working in the housing with support and care sector and will be particularly useful for Strategic Managers, Operational and service development managers and Board members.

The course will consider:

  • The NHS reform agenda, Marmot Review and the role of Health and Wellbeing Boards
  • Regional progress on implementation of Health and Wellbeing Boards.
  • Ideas for influencing the work of the Boards – how can providers have a voice?
  • Payments by Results: Negotiating viable contacts, demonstrating results, and showing cost benefits to public purse.
