Staff who advise clients on Housing Benefit or who need a working understanding of the Housing Benefit System. It is not essential, but desirable, that staff should have a basic benefits awareness.

- To know how to calculate Housing Benefit entitlements.
- To understand how overpayments occur.
- To know how and when to request backdating.
- To know how and when to challenge Housing Benefit decisions.
- Discretionary Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit
- Includes a brief overview of the Local Housing Allowance.
