Remploy - Supporting disabled and disadvantaged people to transform their lives through sustainable employment

Remploy has had over 60 years' experience in the field of disability employment and during that time we have built relationships with national and local employers who provide stable and meaningful employment for people with a range of disabilities, health conditions and complex barriers to work.

We are passionately committed to providing sustainable work opportunities for those who need it most - making a positive difference to the lives of individuals and communities, and realising commercial benefits for everyone we work with.

We have forged successful partnerships with many of the UK's leading public and private sector organisations which have enabled us to develop innovative recruitment and employee retention solutions.

Our expanding network of high street branches together with our factory network enabled us to support over 10,500 people into employment last year - an increase of 31% on the previous year. More than 75 percent of the people supported into a job by Remploy have been out of work for more than a year.  By 2012, we aim to support 30,000 people with complex barriers to work into sustainable employment each year.

With the change in our funding from Workstep to Work Choice in October 2010 councils can now refer candidates directly to us rather than having to go through Jobcentre Plus. In addition, our relationships and national partnerships with companies such as BT, ASDA, Sainsbury's and Royal Mail provide vacancies nationwide.

Current public sector projects include:

  • Contract to find work for 200 PSA 16 candidates through Poole & Bournemouth's Bridge2Work scheme using an on-site Employment Advisor
  • Project Search - working with the NHS, education providers and private sector organisations to offer training and work to people with moderate to severe learning difficulties.
  • Employment service for PSA 16 candidates at Brent Council

Partnering with Remploy offers a range of benefits:

  • Over 60 years' experience in helping people with complex requirements to find and stay in work
  • An understanding of the needs of local authorities
  • Access to an extensive database of employers throughout the UK
  • Ongoing in-work support for employers and candidates

Quote from local authority/employer

"The staff we have recruited via Remploy have been truly superb people with a range of employment skills that enabled them to integrate into our workplace with the minimum of fuss and effort by us and the employer.  They have proven to be hard-working and motivated with a considerable wealth of talent and ambition."
Nigel Hughes, Chief Executive, YMCA Birkenhead

Quote from candidate

Francesca Martinella, 21, has cerebral palsy and, with Remploy's support, is now working as a sales assistant in the electrical department at John Lewis: "I have gained my independence through work, and now regard myself as equal to anybody else - it's all I ever wanted."

Remploy's mission
